What you see, shot by shot

The film starts outside the guard of a blue injection moulding machine, under the title "Two-Colour Cap Mould". Through the window the mould stands open; on the moving side a large toothed ring is visible, and caps sit on the cores.

Close up on the mould face: on one block you can count twelve white caps on the cores, four rows of three. On the block beside it the caps already carry green tops. The side holding the cores then turns while the mould is open, and the mould closes again.

From the side of the machine, the open mould shows caps with green tops still on the cores.

The camera then moves along the mould face: blocks of white caps in rows of three, red and blue lines on top, and a grey connector box and an orange line running into the top of the mould.

At the side of the machine, finished caps drop onto a short conveyor and ride along it, white with green tops.

A hand picks one up for the camera. The side is white and ribbed; the top is a green panel inside a white ring. Turned over, the cap is white inside.

The last shot is a stack of six finished caps turning slowly on a stand.

The film ends with what to send us, then our website and WhatsApp number.

We cut two-colour cap moulds in our own mould workshop, which has run since 2007, and each tool is run in two materials before it ships. The number of cavities on your tool is set from the caps per hour you need. Lead time is 40–60 days. A two-shot tool needs a two-colour machine or a rotary platen, so tell us the make, model and tonnage of yours; if it is a single-shot machine, we will say so before anything is cut.

See full specifications on the two colour cap mould page.

See every closure we tool on the cap moulds page.

Send a drawing, a photo or a sample of your cap and a photo of the bottle neck it fits on, and tell us the two colours and how many caps per hour you need. Get an exact quote within 24–48 hours. Prefer chat? Send it on WhatsApp: +1 773-386-2484.

    Video transcript

This is a two-colour cap mould at work on an injection moulding machine. Watch the mould open inside the press.

A rotary mould opens, turns and closes again between shots. On this face you can count twelve cavities.

Here the mould stands open on the press, and the finished caps are still on the cores: white caps with a green top. Then the mould closes for the next shot.

Now a closer look at the mould, with the hoses and connections around it. The number of cavities is set with you, to match your volumes. You sign off the 3D model and drawings before the mould is cut, and first samples follow.

At the end of the cycle the finished caps leave the machine on a conveyor. Green and white caps ride along the belt beside the press.

And here is the result: a white cap with a green top, close up. Turn it over, and you see the inside of the cap.

Finished two-colour caps on a turntable. Send us a sketch, a photo or a sample of the cap you want, and we tell you if it can be moulded in two colours.

Send us your cap or drawing, and a neck photo.
